Molly Ruttan grew up in Hastings-on-Hudson, New York. She and her twin sister showed signs of artistic and musical talent at a very early age.
Molly attended the Cooper Union School of Art in New York. She graduated with a degree in Graphic Design and established a career as a Graphic Designer and Illustrator in Los Angeles.
She is married to her childhood friend and music producer, Gabriel Moffat. They have three daughters, three dogs, one cat, one rabbit, a garden, some fish, and who knows how many magical nature spirits animating the back yard! They live in a home that they have remodeled using their own designs.
In addition to illustrating, drawing, painting, writing and parenting three daughters, Molly works part-time as a freelance graphic designer, plays drums and sings in the eclectic-folk rock band New Garden, creates artwork for, records and performs as a backup singer and percussionist in the progressive art rock band Phideaux, (www.bloodfish.com) and is a member of the Silverlake Conservatory of Music's adult choir Silverlake Singers. One of her favorite past-times is to find the constellations and planets in the beautiful and vast night sky. You never know when you might catch sight of a shooting star, a satellite, a ufo, or discover the secret to the universe!
Molly’s Illustration debut, I AM A THIEF by Abigail Rayner, published by NorthSouth Books, is available in bookstores. Her author/illustrator debut THE STRAY, published by Nancy Paulsen/Penguin Random House is coming out in May of 2020.
